The asset rose on news from the software provider MicroStrategy, which raised its target for issuing convertible notes from $600 million to $900 million, with an option to buy an additional $150 million. The proceeds from the sale will be used to buy Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

More details on the terms of the notes offering<\/a> were described the day before.<\/p>\n

In December the company similarly raised $650 million<\/a> and purchased 29,646 BTC<\/a> at an average price of $21,925. In January and February MicroStrategy bought another 314 BTC<\/a> (average price \u2014 $31,808) and 295 BTC<\/a> (average price \u2014 $33,808), respectively.<\/p>\n

According to Bitcoin Treasuries<\/a>, MicroStrategy owns 71,079 BTC.<\/p>\n

According to The Block sources<\/a>, Elon Musk’s Tesla invested $1.5 billion in Bitcoin<\/a> in early February via Coinbase.<\/p>\n

Bitcoin surpassed the $50,000 mark<\/a> on February 16.<\/p>\n
