The nonprofit American Cancer Society (ACS) has created a donation fund that accepts cryptocurrency only. This is stated on the ACS website.<\/p>\n
The fund\u2019s creators plan to raise at least $1 million in digital currency in early 2021. Contributions are accepted in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, and a number of other cryptocurrencies.<\/p>\n
\n“We want as many people to join our mission. To do that, we must give people the ability to donate in whatever way is most convenient,” \u2014 said<\/a> Jeff Klaas, ACS’s interim chief digital officer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The fund was created in partnership with the philanthropic platform The Giving Block, which has helped more than 100 organizations connect to cryptocurrency philanthropy. Previously, ACS accepted Bitcoin donations via BitPay.<\/p>\n
The first donor contributing more than $250,000 will be able to name the fund after themselves or a loved one. Names of donors contributing $10,000 or more will be featured on the charity’s honor wall.<\/p>\n
At the end of 2020, the Bitcoin community donated more than $1 million<\/a> to a fund supporting small-business relief in the United States amid the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Binance exchange raised more than $4 million<\/a> in cryptocurrency to purchase personal protective equipment for COVID-19.<\/p>\n
