According to CoinGecko, at the time of writing the Bitcoin price stood at $34 330.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first cryptocurrency purchase among publicly traded mining companies. Okamoto stressed that Marathon plans to increase its position.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAs with <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/microstrategy-chief-pledges-not-to-sell-bitcoin-for-a-century\">MicroStrategy<\/a>, we believe that holding part of our reserves in Bitcoin will be a better long-term strategy than in US dollars,\u201d said the executive.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Earlier, Marathon opened the sale of 12.5 million shares to <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/marathon-to-raise-250-million-for-expansion\">raise $250 million<\/a> to purchase new devices for cryptocurrency mining.
