The attackers mainly use two platforms \u2014 Huobi and Binance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Recall that last year it was reported that the creators of Ryuk <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ryuk-ransomware-creators-moved-more-than-1-million-in-bitcoin-via-binance\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">moved over $1 million in Bitcoin via Binance<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>DuckDuckGo hit 102 million search queries in a day<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Officials from the privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo said that in 2020 the average daily search volume <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/technology\/privacy-focused-search-engine-duckduckgo-grew-by-62-percent-in-2020\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">grew by 62%<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">DuckDuckGo also reported a record \u2014 on January 11 the search engine processed 102,251,307 queries.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>Biden proposed $10 billion for cybersecurity<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The new Biden administration included in its preliminary plan for economic recovery and pandemic relief IT and cybersecurity funding exceeding $10 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">As reported by <a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/bidens-covid-stimulus-plan-includes-10-billion-for-government-tech-2021-1\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Business Insider<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">, such attention to cybersecurity may be a response to the SolarWinds breach, which affected many government agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>Report: ransomware operators stepped up attacks on state agencies and companies in 2020<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">In 2020, ransomware attacked at least 2,354 U.S. government, medical, and educational institutions, according to Emisoft researchers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Over the year 58 government organisations and 1,300 private companies faced data breaches as a result of ransomware attacks. The researchers noted this is not a complete list since attackers often target software vendors and companies do not always disclose incidents.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>Distributed Denial of Secrets published 1 TB of ransomware-victim data<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The activist group Distributed Denial of Secrets published on its website <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.wired.com\/story\/ddosecrets-ransomware-leaks\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">1 TB of data<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"> collected by ransomware operators and found on the dark web.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">In addition to encrypting devices, hackers often steal user data and threaten to publish it if the ransom is not paid. In many cases, victims refuse to pay and hackers carry out their threats, landing the data on the dark web.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Distributed Denial of Secrets believes that some information from the leaked documents holds public value and should be disclosed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>Researcher gained access to Russia Railways surveillance system<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">A researcher going by the handle LMonoceros told on <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/habr.com\/ru\/post\/536750\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">\u00abHabr\u00bb<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"> that he managed to breach the RZhD network, including access to surveillance cameras.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">RZhD stressed that <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/tass.ru\/obschestvo\/10450257\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">personal data of customers were not leaked<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">, and LMonoceros said that RZhD specialists contacted him and together closed the vulnerabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\\\"wp-block-heading\\\"><b>Data allegedly stolen during the SolarWinds attack surfaced for sale<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">On a site called SolarLeaks <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.bleepingcomputer.com\/news\/security\/solarleaks-site-claims-to-sell-data-stolen-in-solarwinds-attacks\/\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">data began to be traded<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">, allegedly stolen from several companies in the SolarWinds breach. Among them are Microsoft, Cisco, FireEye and SolarWinds itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Customers can buy the data individually or in a \u201cbundle\u201d for $1 million.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">To obtain a sample, buyers are asked to send 100 XMR to the address provided.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">As a result <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/massive-attack-on-u-s-agencies-hack-of-signal-and-other-cybersecurity-events-worldwide\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">the breach<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"> of the software supplier SolarWinds allowed hackers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-russian-hackers-breached-u-s-treasury-systems\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">to infiltrate the systems of numerous U.S. agencies<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">, as well as major corporations.
