In 2020, hackers stole nearly $3.8 billion in cryptocurrencies in 122 attacks on blockchain-industry participants. The results of <\/span>\u0438\u0441\u0441\u043b\u0435\u0434\u043e\u0432\u0430\u043d\u0438\u044f Atlas VPN<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Most of the funds were stolen in attacks targeting cryptocurrency wallets \u2014 more than $3 billion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hackers frequently targeted decentralized applications on the Ethereum blockchain. In 2020, they were successfully hacked at least 47 times.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 28 hacks, cryptocurrency exchanges lost more than $300 million.<\/span><\/p>\n

The calculations are based on the rate as of January 12, 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n

Analysts noted that in 2020 the number of hacks targeting the blockchain industry declined for the first time in five years. Experts expect the trend to continue this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Back in October, Atlas VPN calculated that since 2012 the blockchain industry has lost more than $13.6 billion<\/span><\/a> in hacker attacks.<\/span><\/p>\n
