On January 10, an unknown miner moved 1,000 BTC that had lain dormant since 2010. This is already the seventh such transaction in recent times, according to the Telegram channel Goldfoundinshit<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the channel, the sender addresses of all seven transactions are in Coinbase’s cluster. He concluded this after analyzing the structure of the outputs using the blockchain-analytics tool OXT.<\/p>\n

\u00abCoinbase probably bought private keys from an early miner. It is the keys, because the funds in the blockchain had not moved before\u00bb, BTCParser stressed.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

In December 2020, Glassnode reported that 1.78 million BTC at miner addresses had not moved for more than 10 years. According to the researchers, another 4-5 million BTC are inaccessible due to lost private keys or the death of owners.<\/p>\n
