The Voronezh police opened criminal cases into fraud and theft after a local resident filed a report. She became a victim of criminals in an attempt to profit from cryptocurrency, according to the <\/span>Ministry of Internal Affairs site<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim said that an unknown person contacted her, presenting herself as an employee of a financial firm.<\/span><\/p>\n

The caller persuaded the retiree to earn money \u2014 according to the caller, the woman was to transfer funds to various accounts and allegedly profit from cryptocurrency purchases.<\/span><\/p>\n

The victim installed ‘the apps necessary for operation’ and sent the attackers photos of her passport and credit card.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over a month, the victim took out several loans totaling 600,000 rubles. Daily, she transferred part of the funds to the attackers’ accounts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Having transferred about 800,000 rubles, the woman asked about the promised profit. After that, contact with her ceased.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, a resident of Mezhdurechensk transferred 700,000 rubles<\/span><\/a> to a fraudulent Bitcoin exchange.<\/span><\/p>\n
