We now hold approximately 40,824 bitcoins.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nwZcM9zAXZ\">https:\/\/t.co\/nwZcM9zAXZ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Michael Saylor (@michael_saylor) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/michael_saylor\/status\/1334990791496884224?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 4, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company purchased 2,574 BTC for $50 million.<\/p>\n<p>MicroStrategy became the first public company to invest in bitcoin as a reserve asset.<\/p>\n<p>Saylor said that bitcoin investments are made as part of a strategy to shield excess capital from inflation eroding value.<\/p>\n<p>After the latest purchase at an average price of $19,427, it holds a total of 40,824 BTC.<\/p>\n<p>Across all three transactions, MicroStrategy paid an average of $11,635 per bitcoin.
