{"id":29753,"date":"2020-10-07T13:50:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-07T10:50:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=29753"},"modified":"2025-08-27T18:45:57","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T15:45:57","slug":"chainalysis-classifies-bitmex-as-a-high-risk-exchange","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/chainalysis-classifies-bitmex-as-a-high-risk-exchange\/","title":{"rendered":"Chainalysis classifies BitMEX as a high-risk exchange"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The analytics firm Chainalysis has labelled the cryptocurrency derivatives exchange BitMEX as a high-risk platform amid issues with U.S. regulators.<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">As reported by <\/span><a href=\\\"https:\/\/www.theblockcrypto.com\/post\/79959\/chainalysis-bitmex-high-risk-warning\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The Block<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">, on October 5 Chainalysis reached out to its clients and told them that starting on October 13 the service will label BitMEX as a \u201chigh-risk exchange\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Now the Chainalysis KYT monitoring tool will respond to transfers related to BitMEX.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">\u201cAny transfers from October 1 onward should be treated as high-risk,\u201d according to a Chainalysis letter to clients.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The company also urged compliance teams to review earlier transfers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">A Chainalysis spokesperson said clients can assess the level of risk themselves. However, the company typically classifies an organisation as high-risk if criminal charges have been brought against it or its executives, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Such labeling could have a material impact on the willingness of many institutions to do business with the exchange.
