He also <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/media-china-to-use-digital-yuan-at-the-2022-winter-olympics\">said<\/a> about plans to use the digital yuan at the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy head of the PBoC said that to date the regulator has tested 6,700 different use cases for the new payment instrument, including bill payments, transport and government services.<\/p>\n<p>CBDC payments use barcodes, facial-recognition technology and contactless transactions.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;The PBoC regards the digital yuan as the financial infrastructure of the future,&#8221; Fan said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The official cited data showing that within the pilot transactions more than 113,300 personal wallets and about 8,800 corporate wallets have been created.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, China <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/china-plans-to-challenge-dollar-dominance-with-a-cbdc\">intends<\/a> to outpace other countries and be the first to issue a CBDC, including to displace the dollar on the world stage.<\/p>\n<p>China\u2019s successes <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ecb-steps-up-work-on-digital-euro\">intensified<\/a> the ECB\u2019s efforts to issue a digital euro. The Fed <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/fed-expands-cbdc-research\">expanded<\/a> its research into digital currencies.
