With a 7% commission, the deal was valued at $224,000. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The seller was charged under Articles 177 (illegal acquisition or sale of monetary values) and 190 (engaging in activity without a licence) of Uzbekistan&#8217;s Criminal Code.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">A similar incident <a href=\\\"https:\/\/uz.sputniknews.ru\/incidents\/20200620\/14379839\/V-Tashkente-presekli-nezakonnuyu-deyatelnost-po-prodazhe-bitkoinov-.html\\\" target=\\\"_blank\\\" rel=\\\"noopener noreferrer\\\"><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">\u043f\u0440\u043e\u0438\u0437\u043e\u0448\u0435\u043b<\/span><\/a><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\"> in June. Law enforcement then detained a resident of Uzbekistan who since 2019 carried out illegal buy-sell operations of bitcoins worth $3 million via Telegram.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">Citizens are prohibited from buying cryptocurrencies. Through exchanges they may only conduct sales.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">The use of cryptocurrencies as a means of payment or for accepting payments within the country is also prohibited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\\n<\/p>\n<p><span style=\\\"font-weight: 400;\\\">In May 2020, Uzbek authorities required those engaged in cryptocurrency turnover to comply with AML requirements.
