The majority of arrests were made in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>The operation DisrupTor &#8220;is based on the success&#8221; of the takedown of the darknet marketplace Wall Street Market, the U.S. Department of Justice said. After its closure, authorities obtained data that helped identify drug vendors.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;The golden age of the darknet market is over. Such operations underscore law enforcement&#8217;s ability to counter encryption and the anonymity of darknet marketplaces,&#8221; Europol said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some Twitter users say such actions by law enforcement amount to a &#8216;war on anonymity&#8217; online.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The darknet is tiny.
