As part of it, the Beacon Chain would be activated, where Proof-of-Stake would be used.<\/p>\n<p>On August 4, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/launch-of-the-final-ethereum-2-0-testnet\">the launch took place<\/a> of the final Ethereum 2.0 testnet named Medalla. Despite certain <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/unplanned-fork-on-the-ethereum-2-0-testnet\">problems<\/a>, Prysmatic Labs developer Raul Jordan <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/eth-2-0-developers-confirm-phase-0-launch-this-year-amid-testnet-problems\">expressed confidence<\/a> that Ethereum 2.0 would be ready to launch by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/buterin-says-eth-transaction-costs-reflect-a-supply-and-demand-equilibrium\">suggested<\/a> that upgrading the network to its second version would help address the problem of high transaction fees.
