{"id":28378,"date":"2020-09-08T19:44:35","date_gmt":"2020-09-08T16:44:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/forklog.com\/en\/?p=28378"},"modified":"2025-08-27T11:22:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-27T08:22:38","slug":"german-regulator-sets-rules-for-bitcoin-atm-providers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/german-regulator-sets-rules-for-bitcoin-atm-providers\/","title":{"rendered":"German regulator sets rules for Bitcoin ATM providers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The German Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bafin.de\/SharedDocs\/Veroeffentlichungen\/DE\/Verbrauchermitteilung\/unerlaubte\/2020\/meldung_200908_Aufstellen_Krypto_ATM.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stated<\/a> that its permission is required to install crypto ATMs in public places.<!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cTrading with one&#8217;s own funds is a financial service, and a financial commission is banking business, which requires BaFin&#8217;s prior approval,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The regulator warned that those installing crypto ATMs without permission face liability under banking and financial activity laws.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator noted that within its powers it has the right to seal both illegally installed devices and the premises where they are located.<\/p>\n<p>BaFin reminded landlords providing premises, power or telecommunications services to unauthorized crypto-ATM providers of potential administrative liability. The regulator urged landlords in such cases to check that the operator holds a license, since a simple business permit is not enough.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/coinatmradar.com\/country\/80\/bitcoin-atm-germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coin ATM Radar<\/a>, there are 28 Bitcoin ATMs in Germany.
