A resident of Karachay-Cherkessia fell victim to a scammer who offered her a chance to earn money from cryptocurrency, writes<\/a> the Obzor publication.<\/p>\n

At the start of 2019, a 19-year-old Russian woman saw online advertising for a cryptocurrency investment platform and sent 30,000 rubles to the ‘broker’. After receiving the initial profits, she transferred another 669,000 rubles to him.<\/p>\n

However after that the ‘broker’ stopped responding, and the platform’s website became unavailable.<\/p>\n

In March 2019, the police detained<\/a> the site’s creator. It turned out to be a 29-year-old from Saint Petersburg.<\/p>\n

In August 2020, the Malo-Karachayevsky District Court found him guilty of fraud on a particularly large scale and sentenced him to two years in a general regime penal colony. The fraudster will also be required to reimburse the stolen amount to the victim.<\/p>\n

Earlier in July, unknown deceived<\/a> a resident of Norilsk by offering to buy her Bitcoin for 856,000 rubles.<\/p>\n
