The exchange is prepared to give the hackers 25% for the return of the stolen funds.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bitfinex, excluding the funds it was prepared to pay as a reward, the amount of damage at the time stood at $1.344 billion. 30% of the reward (5% to informants and 25% to hackers) was estimated at just over $403 million.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that on August 3, in another series of transactions, the attackers <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/withdrawals-of-bitfinex-hijacked-bitcoins-pick-up-on-the-fourth-anniversary-of-the-hack\">transferred<\/a> 4571 BTC, also stolen from Bitfinex.<\/p>\n<p>The Bitfinex hack occurred on August 2, 2016. In total, the attackers stole 119,756 BTC ($71.8 million at the rate at the time).
