Malicious actors have created Uniswap copycat sites to steal cryptocurrency and are promoting them on Google.<\/span><\/p>\n

The issue was first reported by a ForkLog reader.<\/span><\/p>\n

Several sites are in fact nearly exact copies of the original Uniswap (uniswap.org).<\/span><\/p>\n

The main difference becomes apparent when attempting to exchange cryptocurrencies and connect a wallet.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the original site, the platform either redirects users to the wallet manufacturer’s site or offers a QR code.<\/span><\/p>\n

The fake sites throw an error when selecting any wallet and prompt for a mnemonic phrase or private key.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some have already fallen victim to the attackers’ actions. In one Telegram channel, a user said they lost 1.14 ETH in this way.<\/span><\/p>\n

As of writing, fake sites are still advertised in Google search results for ‘Uniswap’.<\/span><\/p>\n

In May, researchers discovered 22 extensions in the Google Chrome browser that impersonate official cryptocurrency wallet products.<\/span><\/p>\n
