The law permits the inclusion of digital assets with a market capitalization exceeding $500 billion, though currently only bitcoin meets this criterion.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to direct purchases, the reserve can grow through forks, airdrops, investment gains, or public donations. A detailed report on the results is planned to be released every two years.<\/p>\n<p>The governor also signed <a href=\"https:\/\/capitol.texas.gov\/BillLookup\/Actions.aspx?LegSess=89R&#038;Bill=HB4488\">HB 4488<\/a>, which protects selected funds, including the bitcoin reserve, from being transferred to the state&#8217;s general revenue in the event of shifting priorities.<\/p>\n<p>Simultaneously, Abbott approved another 600 various bills. However, SB 21 was not included in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/news\/post\/governor-abbott-signs-over-600-critical-bills-passed-during-89th-regular-legislative-session\">press release<\/a> of the most significant approved initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has become the third U.S. state, alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/arizona-becomes-second-u-s-state-to-establish-crypto-reserve-law\">Arizona<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/new-hampshire-pioneers-bitcoin-reserve-legislation-in-the-us\">New Hampshire<\/a>, to approve a state reserve of the first cryptocurrency.<\/p>\n<p>In May, Florida authorities <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/florida-withdraws-bitcoin-reserve-bills-from-consideration\">halted consideration<\/a> of two legislative acts allowing state investments in bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>In states such as <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/oklahoma-senate-rejects-bitcoin-reserve-proposal\">Oklahoma<\/a>, Montana, Pennsylvania, North and South Dakota, and Wyoming, attempts to create a strategic bitcoin reserve have also <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/montana-house-rejects-bitcoin-reserve-bill-2\">failed<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Texas Governor Greg Abbott has approved SB 21, a law permitting the establishment of an autonomous bitcoin reserve.
