Honestly, it\u2019s insane. I grew up in Luton with nothing, and now I have hundreds of millions in liquid just sitting idle. Hundreds of millions in assets. Sometimes I wake up and just think: wow\u2026 I\u2019m damn rich. Okay, time for the gym.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trader James Wynn responded laconically to the post: \u201cSame.\u201d He has recently become widely known for his high\u2011risk trades on the Hyperliquid platform.<\/p>\n<p>That same day Wynn <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/beat-the-house-hyperliquid-whale-left-with-a-25m-profit-then-returned\">announced<\/a> he was leaving the \u201cHyperliquid casino\u201d with $25m in profit. Hours after the \u201cannouncement\u201d, however, he returned to trading. A few days later the trader <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/trader-james-wynn-reopens-140-million-bitcoin-long-position\">was hit<\/a> by a liquidation after bitcoin fell below $105,000, and on June 5 he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JamesWynnReal\/status\/1930674993286848956\">closed<\/a> another position at a loss.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The so\u2011called Matrix<\/h2>\n<p>Notably, Wynn explains his setbacks in a conspiratorial register \u2014 he <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/whales-losses-on-hyperliquid-near-100-million\">exposes<\/a> a corrupt crypto industry and blames a market\u2011maker or a backstage cabal allegedly controlling markets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I tried to defeat them, I failed.<\/p>\n<p>I went up against the BTC cabal.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody ever tried before me.<\/p>\n<p>Not at this level.<\/p>\n<p>God bless.<\/p>\n<p>?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Wynn (@JamesWynnReal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JamesWynnReal\/status\/1930673674505355503?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 5, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>This worldview echoes Andrew Tate\u2019s \u201cphilosophy\u201d, which uses the term \u201cThe Matrix\u201d to describe a system of social and cultural norms that constrain people\u2019s freedom (especially men). In his view, the Matrix is an invisible structure run by elites, the media and governments, forcing people to conform to prescribed patterns.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThe Matrix has attacked me,\u201d \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fU0e0xOlxso\">said<\/a> Tate when he was arrested by police in Romania in December 2022 on suspicion of forming an organised criminal group and human trafficking.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Matrix concept is easy to grasp thanks to the popularity of the eponymous film. It offers a simple frame for complex social problems. Tate casts himself as someone who has \u201cescaped the Matrix\u201d and urges others to do the same. It\u2019s amazing how bravery, in and of itself, elicits hatred from cowards.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Later the duo began promoting the memecoin Moonpig in the <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/the-buterin-effect-how-meme-tokens-are-refreshing-the-dao-idea\">&#8220;traditional&#8221;<\/a> way: Tate received 20m tokens (2% of the supply) and burned them immediately, which he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JamesWynnReal\/status\/1929871646527312347\">reported<\/a> on X. Wynn <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JamesWynnReal\/status\/1929908025088979226\">commented<\/a> on the stunt, then mentioned the memecoin repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Tate promoted the Solana memecoin DADDY. The price quickly <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/andrew-tate-criticizes-cryptocurrency-culture\">soared<\/a> despite accusations of insider trading. At the time of publication the token is <a href=\"https:\/\/coinmarketcap.com\/currencies\/daddy-tate\/\">down<\/a> 85%.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A glitch in the Matrix<\/h2>\n<p>For all Wynn\u2019s Neo\u2011out\u2011of\u2011the\u2011Matrix posturing and claims that money does not matter, his past conduct suggests otherwise.<\/p>\n<p>On May 28 he again accused a cabal of launching scam tokens in his name, stating that he supports only two tokens \u2014 Pepe and Moonpig.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">? DO NOT BUY.<\/p>\n<p>VOLUME = $4.3M \/ MCAP: $495K, IT IS A FARM.<\/p>\n<p>I ONLY SUPPORT TWO NON CABAL MEME COINS AND THAT IS $MOONPIG AND <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%24PEPE&#038;src=ctag&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">$PEPE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>STAY\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/DgLyYWOkFH\">pic.twitter.com\/DgLyYWOkFH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 James Wynn (@JamesWynnReal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JamesWynnReal\/status\/1927637269676187999?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>On\u2011chain sleuth ZachXBT <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zachxbt\/status\/1927643279140511808\">reacted<\/a> to the post:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019ve literally been doing pump\u2011and\u2011dumps of the same scammy memecoins on your followers for the past few years.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He attached a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/underc0verwhale\/status\/1808247440065417520\">thread<\/a> from July 2024 in which user Dylan detailed Wynn\u2019s playbook:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>he contacted the project team, asking for 2% of the total token supply ($57,000 at the time);<\/li>\n<li>promised to push the market capitalisation to $20m within a few days;<\/li>\n<li>after receiving the tokens, began promoting them in his Telegram chat 45 minutes later;<\/li>\n<li>two hours later started selling in $6,000 tranches, ultimately making $68,000;<\/li>\n<li>when the price fell, called the project a \u201cfailure\u201d and blocked the team across all social networks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Asked \u201cso all his trades are a scam?\u201d ZachXBT <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zachxbt\/status\/1927646078624838122\">answered<\/a>: \u201c<span data-descr=\"in brief\" class='old_tooltip'>TLDR<\/span> gambling with stolen money\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The neo\u2011grifter<\/h2>\n<p>The word \u201cgrifter\u201d seems to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Qjna7PROMZ8\">gained currency<\/a> in America with Donald Trump\u2019s rise, and taken on a particular hue: a con artist who extracts money from the credulous, doing so brazenly and at scale because the future looks hazier than ever and tomorrow may never come. The life cycle of many memecoins is measured in days, if not hours.<\/p>\n<p>Often grifters appear from nowhere and vanish into it. Sometimes they return. For now, Wynn is squeezing his notoriety for all it\u2019s worth and, paired with Tate, pushing yet another memecoin.<\/p>\n<p>Past performance is no guarantee of future results, but the ending here looks predictable.
