As a reminder, the SEC dismissed that case with prejudice. This type of political jockeying is an embarrassing waste of Oregon taxpayer\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 paulgrewal.eth (@iampaulgrewal) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iampaulgrewal\/status\/1913222368027431329?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">April 18, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The authorities accuse the platform of promoting and facilitating the sale of unregistered securities.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to Coinbase&#8217;s Chief Legal Officer, Paul Grewal, officials from the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span> have indicated that they are &#8220;continuing from where <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/gary-genslers-departure-a-retrospective-on-the-sec-chairs-tenure\">Gary Gensler<\/a> left off.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;<\/em>Having gained<em> the trust of consumers in Oregon, Coinbase sold high-risk investments without proper scrutiny. Oregonians lost money, and we believe Coinbase should be held accountable and take measures to protect consumers,&#8221; stated Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Grewal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/blog\/oregon-is-trying-to-revive-regulation-by-enforcement\">noted<\/a> that the Attorney General&#8217;s lawsuit employs &#8220;outdated, repeatedly debunked theories&#8221; that the Commission itself abandoned when <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/sec-concludes-investigation-with-coinbase\">closing the case against the exchange<\/a>:\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;These arguments are years out of date and contradict public opinion, technological progress, and good governance.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to the lawyer, the lawsuit &#8220;harms the constructive development of legislation&#8221; in Washington.
