He noted that if the central authorities do not hurry to create the fund, they will organise a \u201cSBR wave\u201d at the state level.<\/p>\n<p>In January, as part of fulfilling campaign promises, President Trump announced the formation of a digital-assets task force led by special adviser on AI and cryptocurrencies <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/trump-nominates-david-sacks-as-crypto-czar\">David Sacks<\/a>. One of the group\u2019s tasks is to assess the prospects for implementing an SBR. In a recent interview, the official confirmed that they are \u201cstudying\u201d the issue.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">They are studying Bitcoin. ? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/B96BYtGxUM\">pic.twitter.com\/B96BYtGxUM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dennis Porter (@Dennis_Porter_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dennis_Porter_\/status\/1884778818331881554?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 30, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The largest publicly listed miner by market capitalisation, MARA Holdings, has <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/mara-advocates-for-bitcoin-reserve-across-the-united-states\">joined<\/a> the lobbying to create bitcoin reserves at the federal level and in all 50 states.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Illinois<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ilga.gov\/legislation\/104\/HB\/10400HB1844.htm\">proposal<\/a> from John Cabello would establish a fund under the management of the state treasurer. Deposits in digital gold will be held for at least five years. During this period, any bitcoins from the reserves may not be transferred, sold or converted into other assets.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle would be able to accept voluntary donations in bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker proposed regular audits every two years. As a security measure, Cabello considers it necessary to use cold storage for coins.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ohio<\/h2>\n<p>The majority leader in the House of Representatives, Steve Demetriou, introduced a new bill to create an SBR. The state can allocate up to 10 percent of its general fund, budget\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/djEmPNvOcT\">pic.twitter.com\/djEmPNvOcT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dennis Porter (@Dennis_Porter_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Dennis_Porter_\/status\/1882854664284344826?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 24, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>In December, Republican Derek Merrin <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ohio-proposes-bitcoin-reserve-legislation\">first proposed<\/a> a similar initiative.<\/p>\n<p>Among the features of Demetriou\u2019s proposal:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the state may allocate up to 10% of its budget stabilisation fund to invest in bitcoin;<\/li>\n<li>the vehicle uses robust custodial solutions with self-custody;<\/li>\n<li>only assets with a market capitalisation of at least $750 million may be included in the reserve;<\/li>\n<li>the bill uses the neutral term \u201cdigital asset\u201d to reduce political friction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We fully support and approve of this act and will work closely with its authors and supporters to make it a reality,&#8221; Porter said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arizona, Utah, Texas and beyond<\/h2>\n<p>In Arizona, a bill to form an SBR was the first among states to clear a relevant committee.
