(@gauthamzzz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/gauthamzzz\/status\/1880342124736217574?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">January 17, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As a result, Layer 2 solutions may soon reach the limit of effectively scaling the main network.<\/p>\n<p>On March 13, during the Dencun hard fork, <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-activate-dencun-hard-fork-on-mainnet\">EIP-4844 was activated<\/a>, implementing the Proto-Danksharding option to create a new type of transactions for BLOB objects.  <\/p>\n<p>This space is intended for the temporary storage of large volumes of data, which has <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/dencun-update-significantly-reduces-fees-in-layer-2-networks\">significantly reduced<\/a> fees in the Layer 2 ecosystem, especially on Rollup-based solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Since November, the daily volume of utilized BLOB objects has exceeded 21,000, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/dune.com\/hildobby\/blobs\">Dune Analytics<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/1-1393.webp\" alt=\"1-1393\" class=\"wp-image-249890\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dynamics and distribution of BLOB objects across Layer 2. In other words, sustained demand for Layer 2 could quickly exhaust available capacity, Santhosh explained.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2-997.webp\" alt=\"2-997\" class=\"wp-image-249891\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Distribution of BLOB objects across Layer 2. Data: Dune Analytics.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;At the current growth rate, we are only months away from everything &#8216;breaking&#8217;,&#8221; the specialist lamented.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The target and maximum figures are three and six BLOBs per block, respectively. When the target is met, a base fee is charged to regulate demand from Layer 2.<\/p>\n<p>Since November 2024, active use of BLOB objects has consistently reached the target value. As a result, competition among dozens of Layer 2 solutions has intensified with the rise in base fees.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/3-561.webp\" alt=\"3-561\" class=\"wp-image-249892\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Dynamics of the base fee for placing BLOB objects. [\u2026] This affects everyone.<\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/academy.binance.com\/ru\/articles\/what-is-a-decentralized-exchange-dex\"><em>DEX<\/em><\/a><em> sees higher costs, derivative protocols face spikes in base fees, users pay more,&#8221;<\/em> Santhosh explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The Pectra upgrade, scheduled for <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-targets-march-mainnet-activation-for-pectra\">March 2025<\/a>, is expected to increase the BLOB object limit per block to nine, with the target set at six.
