The proposals include improvements to account abstraction, changes to validator operations, gas fee optimisation and higher network performance.<\/p>\n<p>The maximum validator stake is expected to rise from 32 to 2,048 ETH.<\/p>\n<p>About half an hour before the meeting, engineers launched a fifth <span data-descr=\"developer network\" class=\"old_tooltip\">devnet<\/span> to test the planned changes. Since November, the temporary <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereum-developers-launch-first-testnet-for-pectra-hard-fork\">Mekong testnet<\/a> has been used for the same purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Core developer Tim Beiko set out a schedule for further testing on the main testnets:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>by end-January the team will determine fork blocks;<\/li>\n<li>client releases by 3 February;<\/li>\n<li>12 February: the upgrade on Sepolia;<\/li>\n<li>19 February \u2014 on Holesky.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To streamline the process, developers chose not to create new temporary setups for testing code changes. Instead, they will use <span data-descr=\"a fork of the main testnet limited to several weeks\" class=\"old_tooltip\">shadow forks<\/span> of the main testnets.<\/p>\n<p>Frederic Servantes, a protocol security researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, said a third-party audit of Pectra\u2019s system contracts has concluded. No serious issues were identified, he noted.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2024, developers decided they <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/ethereums-pectra-update-scheduled-for-early-2025\">would complete preparation<\/a> of the upgrade on mainnet by the first quarter of 2025.
