I give you one week to request another date, otherwise \u2014 &#8216;the train has left&#8217;,&#8221; noted Judge Paul Engelmayer.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>According to preliminary court filings, the prosecution <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.nysd.596117\/gov.uscourts.nysd.596117.15.0.pdf\">needs<\/a> to review &#8220;terabytes&#8221; of case data, including information on Kwon\u2019s devices, his online accounts, email, trading history and third-party testimony. Some of the materials must also be translated from Korean.<\/p>\n<p>Kwon faces eight counts, including several forms of securities and commodities fraud using electronic communications. On January 2, 2025, money laundering was added to the list. The defendant has <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/innercitypress\/status\/1874875706297192850\">pleaded not guilty<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/opa\/pr\/do-kwon-extradited-united-states-montenegro-face-charges-relating-fraud-resulting-40b-losses#:~:text=If%20convicted%20of%20all%20charges,Guidelines%20and%20other%20statutory%20factors\">statement<\/a> from the U.S. Department of Justice, he faces up to 130 years in prison.<\/p>\n<p>The next pretrial conference to plan the course of the proceedings is set for March 6.<\/p>\n<p>The Terra founder is being held in a New York correctional facility pending further proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>On December 31, Montenegro <a href=\"https:\/\/u1f987.com\/en\/news\/montenegro-extradites-do-kwon-to-the-united-states\">completed<\/a> Kwon\u2019s extradition to the United States.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trial of Terra founder Do Kwon is scheduled for January 2026.
