Additional factors include the significant growth of stablecoins and tokenization projects.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cSolana&#8217;s momentum is just beginning to build. The catalysts in 2025 will be &#8216;serious&#8217; projects transitioning to the network and complementing its dominance in meme coins,\u201d the experts wrote.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>They also pointed out several negative factors that cryptocurrencies might face:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>possible disappointment with the actual policies of US President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration;<\/li>\n<li>government sell-offs of digital assets;<\/li>\n<li>the end of the meme token boom;<\/li>\n<li>unfavorable interest rate cuts by central banks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Among the other nine predictions by Hougan and Rasmussen for 2025 are:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bitcoin ETFs will attract more investments than in 2024;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinbase.com\/en-gb\/institutional\/research-insights\/research\/weekly-market-commentary\/weekly-2024-12-06\">Coinbase<\/a> will surpass Charles Schwab in market capitalization and become the most valuable brokerage firm in the world;<\/li>\n<li>we will witness a \u201cyear of crypto <span data-descr=\"Initial Public Offering\" class=\"old_tooltip\">IPOs<\/span>,\u201d with at least five industry <span data-descr=\"startups valued at no less than $1 billion\" class=\"old_tooltip\">\u201cunicorns\u201d<\/span> going public in the US;<\/li>\n<li>AI agent tokens will lead the meme coin craze;<\/li>\n<li>the number of countries holding Bitcoin will double;<\/li>\n<li>Coinbase will join the S&#038;P 500, and MicroStrategy will enter the Nasdaq-100;<\/li>\n<li>the US Department of Labor will ease its guidelines on cryptocurrencies in the 401(k) retirement plan;<\/li>\n<li>the market capitalization of stablecoins will double, reaching over $400 billion;<\/li>\n<li>the RWA market volume will exceed $50 billion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As a \u201cbonus\u201d prediction, Bitwise specialists stated that by 2029, Bitcoin will surpass the $18 trillion gold market and trade above $1 million per coin.<\/p>\n<p>In comments, users <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CappyTrades\/status\/1866498099134288217\">expressed<\/a> disappointment at the absence of potential US registration of altcoin-based ETFs in the list. Applications for spot Solana ETFs are under review by the <span data-descr=\"U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission\" class=\"old_tooltip\">SEC<\/span>, with market participants expecting approval in 2025.  <\/p>\n<p>Most <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/emotionscontrul\/status\/1866515166545809524\">supported<\/a> Bitwise experts&#8217; view that 2024 was a \u201cwarm-up\u201d for the industry.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2025 is shaping up to be the tipping point for crypto adoption.
