A judge overseeing the case of Ryan Salame, former head of FTX’s Bahamian division, granted<\/a> a postponement for the commencement of his prison sentence to October 13, 2024. The delay was attributed to a “German shepherd bite” suffered by the former executive.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The ex-CEO required surgery, preventing him from reporting to prison on the previously scheduled date of August 29.<\/p>\n

In May, the Southern District of New York court sentenced<\/a> Ryan Salame to 7.5 years in prison.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In September 2023, he pleaded guilty to criminal charges related to the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange. The charges involved conspiracy to make unlawful donations and operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business.<\/p>\n

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, he also received three years of probation, was ordered to forfeit $6 million, and pay over $5 million in restitution.<\/p>\n

Co-founder and former CEO of the platform, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), was found guilty on all charges by a jury in November 2023. In March 2024, he was sentenced to 25 years in prison<\/a>. SBF’s lawyers appealed<\/a> the court’s decision.<\/p>\n

Prior to Salame, former Alameda Research head Caroline Ellison, FTX’s CTO Gary Wang, and the exchange’s engineering director Nishad Singh also pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
