In his view, AI could help confirm this and find a way out.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Roman Yampolskiy: Dangers of Superintelligent AI | Lex Fridman Podcast #431\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NNr6gPelJ3E?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>In his article <a href=\"https:\/\/files.theseedsofscience.org\/2023\/How_to_Escape_From_the_Simulation.pdf\">&#8220;How to Escape the Simulation&#8221;<\/a>, the expert noted that <span data-descr=\"Superintelligence, AI that has surpassed human intelligence and capabilities\" class=\"old_tooltip\">superintelligent<\/span> artificial intelligence could help overcome the limitations of our world.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>&#8220;We used &#8216;boxing&#8217; for AI as a potential tool to control it and realized that the neural network will always escape. This skill can be used to get out of the virtual box if we are in one,&#8221; said Yampolskiy.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yampolskiy pointed out that the intelligence of our <span data-descr=\"in this context \u2014 advanced civilizations whose technologies helped create self-aware beings\" class=\"old_tooltip\">simulators<\/span> will play a key role in this process.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\n<cite>&#8220;If the simulators are significantly smarter than us and the superintelligence we created, they can probably control us, as higher intelligence can manage lower intelligence, at least for a while. However, if our superintelligence, despite limited local resources, somehow manages to rise two levels higher, it might succeed,&#8221; he noted.<\/cite><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yampolskiy suggested one way to escape the simulation. According to him, we need to create a simulated copy of our universe, place AI in it, and observe how it escapes. We could then replicate the neural network&#8217;s method or join it.<\/p>\n<p>Besides his thoughts on simulations, the expert also noted that AI will lead to the extinction of humanity within the next 100 years with a probability of 99.9%.
