This acquisition aims to bolster the security of the non-custodial wallet.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">?We proudly announce the acquisition of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wallet_guard?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@wallet_guard<\/a> by Consensys!<\/p>\n<p>This new addition to our family strengthens <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MetaMask?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MetaMask<\/a>&#8216;s commitment to user protection, building on recent security feature integrations to safeguard against hacks and scams.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/V5PnvuxZMf\">https:\/\/t.co\/V5PnvuxZMf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Consensys (@Consensys) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Consensys\/status\/1808521455317201034?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 3, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p> <script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>The integration of Wallet Guard will enhance the detection of drainers through transaction checks and client-side heuristics, providing users with real-time protection against malicious <span data-descr=\"decentralized applications\" class=\"old_tooltip\">dapps<\/span> and fraud.<\/p>\n<p>In February, the MetaMask team, in partnership with Blockaid, made security notifications available by default across various networks, including Ethereum, Linea, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Avalanche.<\/p>\n<p>This feature is designed to proactively prevent malicious transactions and protect users from scams, phishing, and hacking attempts.<\/p>\n<p>Developers have suggested that in 2024, these notifications could prevent asset thefts amounting to &#8220;hundreds of millions of dollars.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>&#8220;[The integration of] Wallet Guard [\u2026] strategically aligns with ConsenSys&#8217;s goal of<\/em><em> prioritizing user security,&#8221;<\/em> stated the organization&#8217;s CEO and Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The company referred to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chainalysis.com\/blog\/2024-crypto-crime-report-introduction\/\">Chainalysis<\/a>, which claims that over $1.7 billion in digital assets were stolen through fraud in 2023. In 2022 and 2021, the figures were $3.7 billion and $3 billion, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the second quarter of 2024, SlowMist&#8217;s MistTrack service received 467 reports of cryptocurrency thefts. Funds from 18 victims amounting to $22.66 million were frozen. Experts identified key leaks, phishing, and fraud as the most common methods.<\/p>\n<p>In June, developers of the non-custodial wallet introduced a &#8220;collective&#8221; Ethereum staking feature.
