Unitree Introduces a Manned Robot Ready for Production

Unitree unveils the world's first production-ready manned robot.

The Chinese company Unitree has unveiled the “world’s first production-ready” manned robot.

The GD01 is priced from $650,000. It weighs approximately 500 kg with the pilot inside.

The torso houses a cabin for a human. In the released video, the head of Unitree, Wang Xinxin, was inside the robot.

The android can move on two and four limbs. The video shows it breaking through a wall of concrete blocks. The company described the robot as a “civilian vehicle” and urged its use in a friendly and safe manner.

The GD01 model expands the product range of the Hangzhou-based firm, which has made significant strides recently.

In December 2025, six humanoid robots G1 performed at a concert as backup dancers and executed a synchronized forward flip.

In May 2026, a Buddhist ceremony took place in Seoul, during which a humanoid robot from Unitree took vows and became a monk. At the ceremony, it was dressed in traditional grey-brown Buddhist attire.

The Chinese firm planned to sell up to 20,000 humanoid robots in 2026, compared to about 5,500 the previous year. The entry-level model, R1, is priced at around $6,000. The company sells these and other bots internationally through AliExpress.

Chinese-made androids have started appearing in airports and other logistics facilities.

Earlier, Japan Airlines, in collaboration with GMO AI & Robotics, initiated trials of humanoid robots for ground operations at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport.
