Apple to Unveil Updated Siri in June, Reports Suggest

Apple tests standalone Siri app and new Ask Siri feature.

Apple is testing a standalone application for its voice assistant Siri and a new feature called Ask Siri. This will operate across the company’s ecosystem, reported Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, citing sources.

The iPhone developer is revamping the digital assistant as part of a broader overhaul in artificial intelligence. It will feature a new appearance and functionality akin to a chatbot.

Apple has struggled to achieve significant success with Apple Intelligence, prompting the company to restructure its AI platform around the new version of the voice assistant. The aim is to transform the technology from a mere assistant into a system-wide AI agent with deep integration into all applications.

The updated Siri, codenamed Campo, is designed to manage iPhone and Mac functions more effectively and utilize personal data such as messages, notes, and emails.

The assistant will be able to perform tasks within applications, access news content, and search for information online.

The most significant change will be the ability to interact with users in a conversational, chat-like format using text or voice.

Standalone Application

As part of the transition to the new model, Apple is testing a standalone Siri application for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Its launch is expected later in 2026. The solution will compete with other AI tools and provide users with a central place to access their interaction history.

The main interface will display previous dialogues in a list or grid with text previews. Users will be able to pin favorite chats, save old conversations, search through history, and start new dialogues using a special button.

The conversation screen will resemble a chat in the Messages app. The company will add a switch between voice and text modes and the ability to upload attachments.

New Interface and Search

Users will be able to summon Siri using the power button or a voice command. Meanwhile, Apple is testing a redesigned interface to replace the glowing edges introduced in iOS 18.

One of the tested options is placing Siri at the top of the screen within the Dynamic Island.

The updated Siri will be able to provide more detailed answers from the internet. It will create news summaries using Apple News.

Integration into OS

Apple is testing deeper integration of the assistant into operating systems. The Ask Siri feature will appear in the menu of built-in applications, allowing users to send selected content into a new dialogue with the assistant.

Also in development is Write with Siri—a button that opens a tool menu for generating and editing text. This tool already exists but is hard to find in the current version of iOS.

Many new solutions are based on the updated internal models of Apple Foundation Model and Google Gemini technologies.
