AI Agents: The Future of Neural Networks

The future of artificial intelligence lies with autonomous agents rather than large language models (LLMs) in the form of chatbots, according to Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, as expressed in a recent discussion.

“I think we have reached the upper limit of LLM capabilities,” the expert emphasized.

The head of the cloud computing software company noted that in recent years, we have all “drunk the Kool-Aid of ChatGPT.” As a result, “consumers have been led to believe that artificial intelligence is more powerful than it actually is, and that LLMs are the key to technological progress.”

However, the future development of AI lies in autonomous agents, not large language models.

“[…] AI agents can revolutionize operations, automating reporting, auditing, management, and direct citizen services. The result? Billions saved, delays eliminated, and agents empowered to prioritize public safety and welfare. Let’s replace bureaucracy with an agency level that serves people, not politics […]” Benioff stated.

He also cautioned against excessive expectations regarding AI capabilities, particularly concerning unrealistic claims that neural networks will solve major global issues like curing cancer or climate change.

In November, reports emerged about OpenAI’s plans to launch an AI agent.
